Paddle & Machine Mixing Guide
For Plaster & Render
| MATERIAL | PADDLE MIXING | MACHINE MIXING |
| Hardwall, browning, backing & undercoat plasters | Backing plasters are quite heavy to mix and are often mixed two or three bags at a time The MM21 or MM22 MEGAMIXERS with an MR3 5in paddle are recommended for a daily output of 150 square metres a day. For more constant use the MM29 or MM30 with an MR3 spiral paddle is suggested |
For mixing of hardwall use the RMX100 This mixer will turnout a bag in about 2 minutes upto 20 bags an hour Hardwall can also be mixed and pumped through the M22 Mixer Pump. This machine will take dry powder, mix and pump it to the spray gun for application |
| Multi-finish & setting plasters | These are lighter plasters that are applied as a thinner topcoat over backing plasters or plasterboard The MM19, MM21 or MM22 MEGAMIXERS with a MR3 spiral paddle are recommended |
|
| One coat & projection plasters | One coat plaster can be mixed using the MM21 or MM22 MEGAMIXERS with an MR3 5in paddle for a daily output of 150 square metres a day. For more constant use the MM29 or MM30 with an MR3 spiral paddle is suggested | These plasters are suitable for machine application with the M22 and M5 Mixer Pumps These machines will take dry powder, mix and pump it to the spray gun for application |
| Bonding compound | Bonding compound is sticky and heavy to mix The MM21 or MM22 MEGAMIXERS with an MR3 spiral paddle are recommended for a single bag mixes For more constant use the MM29 or MM30 with an MR3 spiral paddle is suggested |
|
| Board finish plasters | These are lighter plasters that are applied as a thinner topcoat over plasterboard The MM19, MM21 or MM22 MEGAMIXERS with 5in spiral paddle are recommended |
|
| Artex & textured coatings | Artex is normally mixed a bag at a time The MM19, MM21 or MM22 MEGAMIXERS with a MR3 spiral paddle are recommended |
|
| Sand & cement renders | For patching or where specialist admixes or polymers are being used, the MM29 or MM30 with an MR3 spiral paddle are recommended | Cement mixers are traditionally used for knocking up sand and cement renders For a higher quality mix are required; for a higher quality mix use the RMX100 |
| One coat renders & through colour renders | Polymer and silicone renders are normally used in large volumes and need a constant supply of mixed material The MM29 or MM30 MEGAMIXERS with an MR3 spiral paddle are recommended |
For trowel application these renders can be mixed using the RMX100 Many of these bagged renders can be spray applied using a mixer pump |
| Lime mortars & renders | Small batches can be mixed with the MM22 at slow speed; for larger mixes use the MM30 The MR4 paddles are better for powders and the MR7s for putties The twin paddle MZR21 is excellent for heavy putties |
The RMR230 roller pan mixer will mix, blend and rework putties and materials with fibre or hair These mixers are used extensively in conservation, heritage and renovation work |
| Repair mortars | Repair mortars range from grouts to aggregate and fibre filled trowel applied mortars Use the slower speed MM22 or MM30 MEGAMIXERS with a MR4 screw paddle The MZR21 with twin contra-rotating paddles gives the most thorough mix action for heavy mortars and also has the easiest mix action |
The RM65 ROTAMIXER will mix up to two x 25kg bags of grout or mortar |
